Paul is a jazz singer with a subtle and understated style. Influenced by the sound of singers such as Chet Baker, Mose Allison and Mel Torme, he does however retain a sound unique to him.

Paul started his music career working in record shop and so has eclectic music tastes and a wealth of musical knowledge. There he met Tom Lee a Sax player and this got him interested in Jazz, it was Tom who introduced Paul to his idol Mose Allison. Paul was desperate to get on gigs with Tom and so set out learning Jazz piano. This was extremely difficult to acomplish in a short time frame so he claimed he could sing Jazz standards. After bluffing his way onto this gig he never looked back and realised what he claimed was actually true!

He next formed a 5 piece Jazz band who landed a residency in a bar on Oxford Road in Manchester. At the time he was commuting up to this gig every week from Stoke On Trent. Through performing on a weekly basis the band attracted other musicians to offer their services until Paul eventually formed That Swing Thing with 9 other musicians. This band played at various events such as weddings and functions and then appeared at B'ham's Jazz festival.

Through That Swing Thing Paul met a very talented pianist from Manchester called Andrzej Baranek. they started a few other projects together including the Shakedown who played a mixture of Jazz standards and Rock/Pop classics played through Jazz. This band has become very successful making their first album, playing at various Jazz venues across the region and also at national Jazz festivals.

Paul later joined The Tarantino Band which was formed by Shakedown drummer Hugh Lawrence. This band bought in more of a show side to the music with quoted lines, outfits and a general theme to events.

Paul has sang at countless events since he first discovered his voice at 24. His latest project is called Jazzpop and combines the organic sound of a Jazz quartet with songs that everyone knows. This has allowed the band to bring Jazz and Blues to a much larger audience and this band has started moving from strength to strength.

Paul is now working on original material which is a cross between his Jazz roots and his first love, Motown. These songs will soon be available on this website so keep tuning back in!
